From my reading in Romans 11:1-18 in the One Year Bible New Testament.
Throughout the book of Romans I keep coming across a the theme of salvation by grace alone.
“It is the same today, for a few of the people of Israel have remained faithful because of God’s grace—his undeserved kindness in choosing them. And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is—free and undeserved.” Rom 11:5-6
Some of the Israelites remained faithful because God was kind enough to choose them. It was not because of their own efforts to do God works.
In order for grace to be grace it has to be free and undeserved!
I love the fact that we can not earn our salvation. We must trust Jesus to forgive us and realize that no matter how good our intentions are we can never measure up to God’s standard.
Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross was the greatest expression of God’s kindness to us.
All you have to do is turn from your sins, accept that free and undeserved gift, and give your life to Jesus.
If you have never accepted that gift then what are you waiting for?
If you have then stop trying to pay God back for what he has done and just live out of loving gratitude.
