Why I’m Passionate About Missions – Romans 10

From my reading in Romans 10 in the One Year Bible New Testament.

Salvation only comes from believing in Jesus and making him Lord of your life.

Unless a person believes in Christ they can not be saved. Paul puts it this way,

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced. 12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Rom 10:9-13

The good news is that salvation is open to everyone who will call on the name of Jesus.

Anyone who puts their faith in Christ will never be rejected! That is why we should be so motivated toward missions. Those people who have never heard about Jesus will die in their sin and experience eternal separation from God in Hell. Paul puts it this way,

“But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” 16 But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” Rom 10:14-17

If people have never heard of Jesus how can they believe in him?

That is why we must be passionate about taking the good news to all nations. Our churches should be all about sending people out to the nations to tell them about Jesus. Saving faith comes when a faithful missionary is willing to sacrifice comfort, time, and energy in order to go to the unreached.

What part are you playing in this task? What part should you be playing?

Some are called to send others. Some are called to pray diligently for others and for the nations. Some are called to give generously. Others are called to go to the places where people have never heard of Jesus.

One of the things on my bucket list is to share the gospel with someone who has never even heard the name Jesus.

I pray that more people would get serious about God’s passion for the nations. People will die without knowing Jesus if we don’t go and tell them!
