From my reading in 1 Corinthians 8 in the One Year Bible New Testament.
Knowledge without love leads to pride.
Knowing a lot is an extremely good thing! But when the truth is not expressed or applied in a loving way it is dangerous. The apostle Paul warned the Corinthian church about the dangers of knowledge without love.
“Now regarding your question about food that has been offered to idols. Yes, we know that “we all have knowledge” about this issue. But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church. Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much. But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes.” 1 Cor 8:1-3
Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up!
I love the phrase here, “Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much.” Even if we know the right answer it doesn’t mean that we have to beat people over the head with it. We should always have an attitude of humility when speaking the truth. Paul wrote a similar warning to the in Ephesus.
“ Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” Eph 4:15
We can know the truth, but let us share it in a way that actually helps people!
