6 Awesome Experiences We Will Have in Heaven. Revelation 21

Heaven is another term for the New Earth. This is the permanent home for everyone who decides to follow Jesus. In Revelation 21, John describes his vision of Heaven.

1. In Heaven we will experience beauty beyond description.

And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. Revelation 21:2

The wall of the city was built on foundation stones inlaid with twelve precious stones… Revelation 21:19

The happiest moment of my life was when I saw my beautiful wife walk down the aisle in her white dress. She was dazzling and radiant. John felt the way I felt when he first saw heaven. That’s why he equated it with a bride dressed up for her husband. He was blown away with the beauty of heaven.

Then when he described it he used precious stones which were the most beautiful things he could imagine. Heaven will be beautiful beyond our wildest imaginations.

2. In Heaven we will experience God face to face.

Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. Revelation 21:3

I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. Revelation 21:22

The best part of heaven is that we will experience God face to face! He is the main attraction. We will not need a temple because God’s presence will be with us. What an amazing experience it will be to constantly be in the unhindered presence of God!

3. In Heaven we won’t experience any sorrow, death or pain.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Revelation 21:4

All the horrible losses that we experience on earth will be gone. There will be no more depression or heart ache. There will be no more grief. There will be no more murder or war. There will be no more pain of any kind. No more disease. No more injury. No more suffering!

4. In Heaven everything we experience will be new.

Look, I am making everything new! Revelation 21:5

Yes Aladdin, it really will be “a whole new world.” The new earth will be similar to the earth we experience, but everything will be renewed and unhindered by sin.

5. In Heaven we will experience God’s glory unhindered.

And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. Revelation 21:23

God’s glory will give us light!  Can you imagine what it will be like to constantly be living in God’s glory for all of eternity?

6. In Heaven we will experience ultimate safety.

Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there. Revelation 21:25

Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Revelation 21:27

There will be no need to lock the gate because we will be completely safe. There will be no trace of evil in heaven. In the Garden of Eden, Satan was allowed to enter and tempt Adam and Even; in heaven, nothing will be allowed to enter and mess up the perfect balance of heaven.

All Nations, Tribes, People and Languages Will Party In Heaven Together! Revelation 7

Heaven will be a huge multicultural worship service.

The beauty and diversity of humanity will be displayed in all it’s brilliance as all types of people will worship the one true God.

“After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a great roar, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!” Rev 7:9-10

Salvation for the nations only comes through Jesus.

Part of our role as Christians is to go to the people groups that are not yet reached and recruit for this day. Evangelism is worship recruitment.

Part of our mission in life is helping reach people of every nation, tribe, people and language.

What role are you playing in reaching the nations?

The Only No-Risk Investment Of Your Money – Luke 12:32-59

From my reading in Luke 12:32-59 in the One Year New Testament.

The No-Risk Investment

Jesus told the people to sell their possession and to give to those in need.

“Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven!” Luke 12:33a

Now this doesn’t mean sell ALL of your possessions, but it does mean generously and creatively find ways to give. Some of people say, “I can’t afford to give, I’m strapped”, but I think that what Jesus is getting at here is “you can’t afford not to give.” Whatever you give with a pure heart you will be rewarded for!

When you give creatively and sacrificially you are storing treasure for yourselves in heaven. Heaven is going to be great for all Christians but there will be different levels of reward for those who are faithful.

Glass Fully Full

One illustration that helps me understand rewards in heaven is this. In heaven we will all be completely happy. It will be like having our glass all the way full with joy. Those who have obeyed God and followed closely will be rewarded with bigger glasses and therefore have greater capacity for joy. Those who don’t follow closely but believe in Christ will be completely full of joy but might have a lesser capacity.

This is just one perspective that helps me but we don’t know exactly how the reward system will look in heaven. What we do know is that it is meant to be a legitimate motivation for our obedience. If it wasn’t then why would God put the verses that talk about it in the Bible?

The Safe of Heaven

“And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it.” Luke 12:33b

Your investment is totally secure in heaven. There are no robbers in heaven because there is no sin in heaven! If you give to those in need you will be rewarded, period.

Lead Your Heart

“Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” Luke 12:34

In the movie Fireproof they talk about how destructive it can be if we listen to the world’s instructions to “follow your heart.” Following your heart can lead to sin and a ruined life. Instead we are to “lead our hearts” to obey God and do what we know is right. As we lead our hearts our desires will come with it and over time God will change our desires to fit more closely with God’s.

When you choose to give you will end up caring about what you give to.

Giving does many things for you, but perhaps the greatest thing it does is change our hearts.

What can you do to give sacrificially this month?
