Life Saving Truths To Remember When Facing Temptation – 1 Corinthians 10:1-18

From my reading in 1 Corinthians 10:1-18 in the One Year Bible New Testament.

Temptation affects all of us.

Everyone faces temptation regularly. Even Jesus faced temptation. Paul shares some profound truths for us to remember when we are facing temptations.

“If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” 1 Cor 12-13

If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall…

You are never beyond temptation. If you think you have an area down and won’t struggle you should be careful because you may have fallen into pride. And pride comes before a fall. Don’t let your guard down, because temptation can strike at any moment.

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience…

People all over the world face the same temptations that you face. No matter what your specific temptation is it is a comforting thought to know that you are not the only one!

 And God is faithful…

You can remember that God is faithful when you are fighting temptation and it will give you comfort.

He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand…

God will not allow us to be tempted more than our ability to say no by his strength! That means when we give in to our temptation it is never God’s fault.

When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

God will prove a way out! This is a comforting thought. Sometimes that way out comes early and if you don’t take it then you will fall.

I encourage you that next time you are facing a temptation remember there is a way out, look for  the way out and then take it!

Being tempted is not a sin, we all experience it. By God’s grace he can give us the power to say no to temptations and yes to his plan for us!
