7 Life-Changing Truths Jesus Shared In John 14

From my reading in John 14 in the One Year New Testament.

This is one of those chapters with to much good stuff to pass up so here’s a summary of the highlights! These seven truths were originally told to the apostles but I believe most (if not all) apply to us today.

1. Don’t Be Troubled, Trust Jesus

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” John 14:1

2. Jesus is Preparing A Place For His Followers

“There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2

3. Jesus Is The Way The Truth And The Life

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

4. Through Prayer Jesus Gives Power To Do Amazing Things

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.” John 14:12–13

5. Jesus Asks The Father To Give The Holy Spirit As An Advocate

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” John 14:16–17

6. Jesus Reveals Himself To Those Who Obey

“Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” John 14:21

7. Jesus Gives Peace of Mind And Heart

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27
